Wow.... a new journal launch
As you know, I am keen on reading the press releases from Nature, Scinece, Newswise, ScienceDirect, and so on. Mostly, I read with great interest in the scientific endeavors and discoveries taking place at this incredible time.
Yesterday, as I perused my usual sites, over my afternoon coffee, I came across this release from Nature News entitled "Creationists launch 'science' journal". Amazed at what I read in this short release, I sent the link onward to a few friends and went about my day. This morning, I visited the actual site of this free-access journal.
In the Editor-in-chief's (Andrew Snelling) own words:
"It is our hope that the online publication of ARJ will encourage Christians with powerful results of the latest creationist research, providing them with new resources for use in their own research and education, and in their witnessing to the truth and authority of God’s Word."
There are some "good reads" here. Particularly, I like this conclusion from Dean Lightener's "article" that is most impressively entitled "Karyotype Variability within the Cattle Monobaramin" [doesn't that sound scientific and impressive?]:
"The precision necessary to fuse two chromosomes, inactivate one centromere, and adjust the amount of heterochromatin suggests that the chromosomal translocation mechanisms were designed by God to provide for His creatures in this present fallen world. "
There is no science in this journal, just naive, biased and irrational statements and conclusions. There is no method to the conclusions, unless gathering freely-available data and construing this data in a way that sounds convincing to those that want to be convinced. [For a good example, see “In-Place” Fossils by Chance by John Woodmorappe.]
This may be one of the scariest publications I have seen. I hope that the readers somehow muster up a sense of objectiveness and assess the articles critically, before jumping on board. To me, the attempt by the editors to label this as publication scientific is a disgrace and an insult.

Technology is amazing....
I just came across this press release entitled "New Bluetooth System Orients Blind and Sighted Pedestrians", and I think you may enjoy reading about this application of bluetooth technology. What a great idea! I'm so glad researchers were/are thinking of other applications of this technology... all along while I was just so happy to not hold my cell phone next to my ear....
